FMCA’s 89th Family Reunion was held March 17-20, 2014 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agri center in Perry, GA.

Just
under 50 Maestros from across the USA arrived for PreRally rehearsals on March
14 2014. Rehearsals were held in the
lobby of the Sutherland Equine Building and the Reeves Auditorium.
The
convention was themed ”Passport to Perry.”
Bradford Pear Trees were in full bloom and provided a canopy for
activities all over the Agri Center.
Maestro Happy Hours were limited due
to the intense schedules and RAIN for two days.
The two gathering hours were greatly enjoyed.
A small group of chorus and band members provided evening entertainment for the Volunteer Dinner. It was delightful to enjoy chorus vocals and instrumentals as volunteers gathered to eat and begin an intense week of service.
Maestros enjoyed an evening out to
dine at the historic Swanson House in Perry.
The traditional pancake breakfast was
held. Enjoying the sumptuous affair were the national and area officers
and Maestros.
The Chapter Fair Maestro Table was a
combined effort of chapters.
Maestros
upheld the morning tradition of Morning Coffee time while the crowd gathered
for coffee and donuts! Performances included soloists.
The
many voices of the chorus pleased the crowd with their talents accompanied by
the band.
Maestros
were offered a spot on Day Time Entertainment after the convention program books
had gone to print. The spacious area did allow the beautiful chorus and band to display their true level of
musicianship.
The chorus sang “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

The
band performed outside for the traditional Ice Cream Social.
Evening
Entertainment Opening Ceremonies National anthems were provided by Cynthia
Colter, chorus director accompanied by a brass quartet.
A Military Salute is always the concluding feature of a
Maestro performance.
Maestro
rally captains were Jack and Sally Friendlander.
The
directors for the 89th Family Reunion were Charles Marston and
Cynthia Colter. Sharon Jackson was the
guest conductor.
