“Hooray for
Hollywood” announced the rally theme
at each of the Maestro performances.
Maestros performed for seven venues at GEAR
detailed in this blog.
Maestros arrived at the
Western North Carolina Fairground at Fletcher, NC (Asheville) ready to
rehearse.
The arrival date was
September 21, 2014. Twenty three coaches
got parked and hooked up. The abundance
of sewer and water sites was a welcome treat.
The first rehearsal was
held outside
while waiting the occupancy of the Boone Building
on Monday,
September 22, 2014.

GEAR gained use of the Boone Building for all of their activities. Maestros set
up rehearsal space in a part of this building.
Rehearsals began for the scheduled Maestro events.
FMCA’s International
Executive Officers,
Charlie Adcock, President, and Jon Walker, Vice President,
spoke with the chorus and band during a rehearsal.
Their enthusiasm for the
Frustrated Maestros was evident. They
restated their invitation for FMs to accept one of the three major evening
entertainments at the International Convention in Madison, WI July 2015.
Charles Marston has accepted the invitation to direct.

The FMs performed an
evening of entertainment in the “auditorium” side of Davis Center on Wednesday,
Sept. 24, 2014. The group moved to the
stage for a morning rehearsal.
“Show Tunes” was the theme
of the evening. Greats such as “Phantom
of the Opera,” “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina,” “Moon River” and “Singing in the
Rain” filled the rally auditorium
with tunes and memories.

Solos and duets were a
part of the morning program.
Additional ensembles were
featured
in “Tiger Rag” and “Helena Polka.”
Happy Hours were always times in the day
to visit and munch.

at Chapter Fair. A trio provided
background music.

Rally goers to the Ice
Cream Social
were treated to a Maestro German Band.
A small group of Maestros
was selected to surprise
John Reynolds, Greater Eastern Area Vice President,
with a rendition of Happy Birthday at a party for him
given by the Tiffin
Travelers.
The group enjoyed a Pizza
Supper
before the annual meeting.
Sharps and Flats held their annual meeting.

The National Anthems of
the US and Canada were presented at Opening Ceremonies by a brass quartet
and
Cynthia Colter singing.
Tradition of Maestros was
continued by presenting a military salute to service rally goers at morning
coffee.
Directors were Charles
Marston, Cynthia Colter,
Sharon Jackson, and Rea Edenfield.
The concluding Maestro
appearance for GEAR 2014 was first “unit” of the two entry parade!
Bone tired Maestros marched and
played
…regular instruments and some Kazoos.
A golf cart provided a ride for the
snare drum and accordion.
The Sharps and Flats banner announced their position
in the parade. Efforts earned a second place trophy
of two units in the parade.
Each evening TAPS was
played by a trumpeter
to signal the end of the day.
Compliments came from rally goers beyond
Maestros.
