Music Camp 2014 sponsored by FM Sharps and Flats

Music Camp 2014 convened at Tom Johnson Camping Center’s
Rally Park in Marion, NC on September 16-20, 2014.

Music Camp began with a meeting on September 15, 2014. Sharps and Flats President Bruce Taylor explained the varied activities of Music Camp.

Director Charles Marston explained the scheduled music events for the week.

Coffee and camper treats drew Maestros to a 7:30 AM gathering.  Maestro BJ Fuller presented a short suggestion for managing stress.

The chorus worked separately.

The band spent time on Dixieland music and sight reading.  Campers wrote on a list their suggestions for a time of reading much music.  Some had sent music prior to camp to be read.
Jams were a vital part of the Sharps and Flats each evening.

A white elephant exchange and auction provided a time to enjoy just being silly. Several games filled the Happy Hour time with fun.
A workshop presented by a barbershop quartet taught how close harmonies are achieved by listening to others.

Following the barbershop presentation the guest were invited to a dinner of chicken and delicious carry in...s!

Rehearsals filled many hours of each day beginning at 8:30 AM.

The group ate at Fatz Restaurant in Marion, NC.

A day away, a day off, and a day of rain was welcomed by all.
Several traveled to tour the Biltmore House in Asheville, NC.

A trumpet trio played taps to end each day.

The Maestros were off to Asheville, NC to the Western North Carolina Fairground for a week of rehearsals and rally performances September 21-28, 2014.
